Merchant Fodder, strip any good mods and sell em. Greens are ok, mostly for heros.
Funny how rare(gold) items are merchant fodder. They should make uber rare items again, with almost impossible chances of getting one. Maybe with a different color scheme for the lettering. You know, crap(white), magical(light blue), uncommon(purple), rare(gold), unique(green) and maybe something like godly(silver or red)

I only sell it to other players if I know I can get more than 5K for the item in less than 15 minutes time.
Otherwise, I can usually generate close to that amount by simply playing the game.

My stuff I sell for fun is always rare so I sell it expensive e.g. I am selling flames of balthazar for 8k each. Greens and golds I sell cheap or bin them.

For a couple years I just piled anything that looked interesting or unusual on mules and went merrily about the world. My GW New Year's Resolution was to make room so I started a big sell thread. Had a blast, made some nice new friends, made some money, learned about rare and desired skins, made even more new friends, got to where I really enjoyed the trading game for a while, spent the money, made some more, etc. (It's really not at all "meaningless" to spend your play time working the trade channel - it's just a different way to play.)
Trading stuff did get old for me after a while, and I'm back to exploring and questing while online rather than trading. I'm still a hopeless packrat. I've got mules holding any mod that looks useful and any max weapon/offhand that looks interesting. With inscribables, blue/purple/gold makes no difference, I'll keep it if it's a nice skin. Nice to be able to help friends out when they need mods or weapons for new chars. Every once in a while I run out of room and put up a storage sale thread on guru. It usually gets rid of enough stuff that I don't feel a storage crisis anymore.
Selling things one at a time gets old in a hurry. If you've got the inventory space, far easier to get a big pile and sell it all at once IMO. I suspect the best money gained/time-spent ratio goes to the people that quickly sell their loot for way below market value. They don't get top dollar, but they're outta there awfully fast.
Oh, but I just can't resist ....

No, what he does is show me all his stock and sell me anything I want for 1k so he doesn't have to take screenshots of it. <3 rabbit-mart!

Splitting Trade Search into Selling and Buying search would have been a good idea. People ask far too much for items. No one checks guru or any trade site to see values, they just ask stupid amounts. Tried to buy a Chaos Axe last night (guru PC sets it at around 80-100k tops, ones even on auction for 100k B/O) and some kid thinks hes gonna charge me 100k+10e.

from my experiences, id say that 98% of all items being spammed in-game are overpriced. the 2% that arent end up being gobbled up by power-traders and resold for above market value [if there is such thing as "market value" in a mmo economy].

I tend to keep anything that is theoretically sell able, but I'm way too lazy to bother most of the time. It just stacks up in my storage.
Anything lesser, I either salvage if I could get something like Steel from it, give it to a hero or a needy friend if its something reasonably usable, or if all else fails, merchant.

95% of all my drops gold or not gets sold to the NPC merch. Every town vist I get in the neighborhood of 2k for the drops and maybe 1 decent salvage mod to make use of for a gold weapon later... If I get a green I use it, put it on a hero, or stash it for a guild member. But thats a mere 2% over all... Least for me... As to the golds that drop when they do... mostly I just salvage what I want off them, (if anything at all) then sell it same as the rest of the stuff to the merchant...
I have zero confidence in the trade system. I do not believe it should exist at all and as such would rather go without then make use of it. If I ever became that pathetic to sit and spam a chat channel for some idiot that would pay some absurd price for a Game item instead of playing... I think it would be the last day I draw breath in that or this world.

Go to Kamadan, gather a group of 4 players, myself included obviously
Go outside and tell the players to stand still at the entrance, I run a bit further and start dropping the items i want to get rid of. I start a countdown and on Go! the players run and randomly pick up whatever items they want.
Went on 5 trips where I dropped about 10 items each time, including greens, all the req9 golds i was collecting, perfect upgrade components, about 50 normal tomes and a few other things. Was fun for me and fun for the ppl who joined me
Oh, and I lol at the ppl who thought i was trying to scam players, their loss though

All you miss is paragon shield and axe, ofc, there is better alternative to each of those bonus items, but you can equip all your heroes for free.

But that's booooring. The Rhino hammer looks very cool though. But meh, I like the fancy goodies on them. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining anyways.
I usually do a Tomb b/p run every now and then when I need gear, It's fun as hell and the weapon stats arent that bad.
Besides, I'm opening lots of chests for my treasure hunter title, might as well use the gear and weapon mods.

Elswyth's recurve is on almost any of my ranger heroes, I love the stats and the black skin.

i rly hope they fix the economy in gw2. gw economy was broken when faction came out (and greens). There is way too much on the market. only way that could fix it was to actualy higher the dmg on a new serie of weapons. so all the old ones went out of the marked. (this will never happen . but gw 2 would kinda be like that.) I rly hope they dont give after the whiners, and actualy make it a bit hard to get a max stat weapojn. and only 2% of the ammount in gw

You say is was broken with the introduction of greens and Factions, and that it should be hard to get a max stat weapon, but you completely ignore the fact that collectors and crafts sold max stat weapons in Prophecies, extremely cheaply, before the introduction of either. Getting a max stat weapon was never, and was never intended to be, hard in Guild Wars.

I, uh... Walk into an instance, drop them on the ground, and click the Guild Hall button.
Too busy to even bother going to the Merchant with them. Pretty sure he's been scamming me anyway.

I merch most stuff I don't need. Unless I know an item is in demand and worth attempting to sell, it goes towards inflating my virtual piggy bank.
The only whites or blues or imperfects I even try to hawk are Fiery Dragon Swords and Fellblades, since it's pretty easy to find a newbie warrior who appreciates a shiny skin.
